• my room is much cleaner when my mind is. (The reverse is also true.)

• freshly washed sheets, a heated blanket, and a movie are more pleasing than any stranger you meet

• my mother is not my enemy (this one was never really up for debate)

• most beer is better with a lime (this one is up for debate)

• friendships should never feel like transactions. (I would rather be strangers)

• always stay on do not disturb (waiting for the snapchat notification sound alters my mood with humiliating efficiency)

• love is not worship (I have already tried that)

• pitying myself is occasionally indulgent (my ego remains intact regardless)

• no matter how hard i scrub in the shower, i can never seem to get the filth and guilt to glide off my back (see above).

• never say no to a movie with your dad (you will regret it later).

• memory is both a blessing and a burden (learn from the scenes that replay more than others)

• depression is convincing when it speaks (it is also frequently wrong, and the urge to leave everything behind usually passes by morning)

• nostalgia can make almost anything seem sacred (not excluding including trauma)
